Unveiling the True Self
What if authenticity begins where identity ends? Most of us want to meet our authentic selves especially if we're feeling unaligned. Here's what you should ask yourself:
- Am I creating an image to meet others’ expectations?
- Do I feel aligned with my passions?
- Am I living a purpose that feels true to me?
Finding a purpose and your truest self is no small feat. This takes a lifetime for each of us. And those times where we believe we truly know ourselves, are often when everything begins to crumble.
First, understand that the identity is an illusion. Our ego creates the identity in order for us to be tethered to reality.
Before rejecting this idea, or spiraling into existential crisis, pause and think. If someone were to ask you, "Who are you?" What would you say? The things you like and dislike? Your occupation? Your personality traits? Your name?
None of those things are actually you at all. They are constructs—roles created by the mind. Yet, these constructs are also our tool to navigate the human experience.
Once you understand that the identity is an illusion, you open yourself to the field of possibilities. You unlock the potential to become whoever you wish to be. It is time to realize you were never confined to anything you have attempted to attach yourself to.
What you should acknowledge is that every one of us is a miracle—a unique being with a purpose. This is why we have identity. Creating an identity is a tool for us to fulfill a purpose here on Earth.

To discover your purpose, you must:
- Release attachment to identity.
- Explore life without illusory constraints—try new things and do what you once feared.
- Reflect—What makes me feel most passionate? What connects me to myself? What makes me feel whole?
From there, your purpose has revealed itself and will continue to expand. It may be one calling or many. Whatever you discover, live it. Execute that passion. Make it your purpose. Live your one and only life in alignment. It may be frightening at first, but take a moment to imagine the beauty of it. The world is awaiting your authenticity.
